Hiking Mohawk Lakes
Our last few days of vacation were spent in Breckenridge, Colorado. This was our first time in the area, and the whole family loved it. We intended to do a couple of hikes near Breck, but only ended up doing one, the hike up to Mohawk Lakes.
The hike was absolutely beautiful. This was definitely the most strenuous hike I have done in years, not helped by carrying lots of camera gear and not packing enough food. However, it was completely worth the effort, and I will definitely be back in the future.
In addition to the spectacular scenery, we saw quite a bit of wildlife, most excitingly a group of mountain goats! Normally, I wouldn’t be too nervous around wildlife, but there was one larger goat who was eyeing us the whole time and didn’t look very happy. We guessed that he thought that Jasper was another sheep (given his white coat) and wasn’t happy that Jasper wasn’t part of his herd.
